We're about building community
NORTH CANTERBURY BUILDS WITH HEART
As North Canterbury locals, Scarlet Construction go beyond building just structures
Scarlet Construction was built on the need of neighbours and locals in the community after the 2016 Kaikoura Earthquake and this has remained at the core of our business, where a job is seen not just as business but a way in which we can continue to “help” and serve our neighbours and those in the community and beyond.
We’ll always strive to give you a helping hand, no matter how small the job. From designing the home of your dreams to helping with a new farm shed, we’re here to support you.
Chris & Helana
The Scarlet Construction Story
Chris began his building experience in the late 1990’s, working for a business that specialised in rural and light industrial builds. After several years of building, Chris had the opportunity to head into the farming sector in a family run farm in Waiau, North Canterbury.
Nearly 2 decades later, after the 2016 Kaikoura earthquake hit, Chris found himself helping his neighbours and locals in the community rebuild their homes and livelihoods. As a result, Scarlet Construction Ltd was formed in 2017 when Chris ventured out from a career in farming into building which had still been a passion of his over the years.
And this is where we find Chris today, 7 years later, now a registered Licensed Building Practitioner and still enjoying the challenge of the variety of work that building provides. With his wife, Helana, and an awesome team of builders by his side, Scarlet Construction Ltd has become more than just business for Chris, it has been a way in which he has felt he can continue to serve his community by providing a service to his clients that is founded on his ability to think outside the box and problem solve, tackle whatever curve balls and challenges may arise and, most importantly of all, connect with his clients in an open and friendly manner, with his aim to alleviate unnecessary stress and weight for them that the building process can cause.

There's truly no building job too big, or too small for our local team.

A few of our recent projects:

Summer House
This was a fun and creative build, requested as a feature for a local garden and nursery as a quiet getaway to enjoy the garden surroundings as well as for special occasions.
Project features:
Beautiful weatherboard structure with trellised walls to provide shelter and bring an aesthetically pleasing feature to the build.
Alpine Log Cabin
This log cabin was a new challenge for Scarlet Construction. Built in the local, Mt Lyford Alpine Village, this cabin provided many opportunities for the Scarlet Construction team to grow and hone their skills and produce a stunning build that mirrors the equally beautiful alpine setting.
Project features:
Kitset package of hand hewn logs created by Natural Log Homes in Geraldine.
Steel and timber interior features.
Farmhouse Veranda Renovation
Our client requested an upgrade to their veranda due to deterioration. This build gave both a covered and open pergola entertaining area that held closely to the style and age of the home.
Project features:
Clever style matching to the existing home.
Custom-crafted fascia.
Linea Weatherboard.
